TAMPA, Fla. – February 9th, 1998 – Microsystems Technology Inc., a leader in information capture software, for the second year in a row was named as one of the Deloitte & Touche’s "Technology Fast 500" companies. The award was created to recognize the outstanding contributions of fast-growing technology companies to economic development. Tampa-based Microsystems Technology ranked 139th in the country in 1997 and 436th in 1998.
Microsystems Technology, founded in 1989 by five-time "Inc. 500" CEO Charles Jackson, was a pioneer in applying the various forms of optical character recognition technology to mainstream business needs. Microsystems’ information capture product, OCR for Forms™, with more than 8,000 licenses installed worldwide, was twice named the product of the year by Imaging magazine. Inc. magazine ranked Microsystems Technology on its "Inc. 500" roster in 1997 and 1998. Jackson’s prior company Collier-Jackson Inc. made the "Inc. 500" list in 1983, 1984 and 1986.
